Our 8 Hour Annual Firearms Security Training Course is taught by our New York State DCJS Certified firearms security instructors. The 8 Hour Annual Firearms Course is designed to refresh and cement important concepts in being a security guard. New York State requires that NYS registered armed security guards must take this course every calendar year, including retired law enforcement officers. Non-retired-LEO armed security guards must take this course as well as the NYS Annual In-Service Security Training Course every calendar year. Since the registration is valid for two years, this course must be completed twice between the date of issuance and date of expiration to be considered for registration renewal. This course is offered as a one full-day on weekdays and weekends.
Participants must pass a 50-round shooting course with at least 70% (35 rounds) in the designated target area. Upon completion and passing of this course, participants will be issued a Certificate of Completion. This certificate must be submitted to the NYS Department of State for registration renewal. Cost of the course covers qualification with two weapons. Ammunition, firearms, and holsters are not included in the course cost. Participants must separately purchase 50 rounds of ammo (1 box) and bring their own handgun and holster.
You must bring your current NYS Armed Security Guard Registration Card and NYS pistol permit to the class; Those who fail to bring their NYS armed guard registration and NYS pistol permit will not be permitted to attend.
